Where is Cat Ba Island?
Located on the Northeast coast and around 25km from the heritage site of Halong Bay, Cat Ba Island is the biggest island in the total of 367 islands in the Cat Ba Archipelago in Cat Hai, Hai Phong. Cat Ba Island is charming with extraordinary scenery of karst mountains on the calm bay, many beautiful sandy beaches, mangrove forests, and a rich ecosystem. With the majority of the area being a national park, Cat Ba was recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve in 2004.

If Halong Bay is a superstar heritage bay, Lan Ha Bay that surrounds Cat Ba is known as the “forgotten paradise” with unexploited stunning landscapes. Most cruises will make stops in Viet Hai village which is a local village on Cat Ba island. You can either choose to take a biking trip, or a buggy cart to visit. At the moment you can only visit Viet Hai village if you take a 3 day 2 night trip.
If you decide to take a trip to Cat Ba after the cruise is over, most Lan Ha bay cruise will be able to drop you off at Gia Luan pier - from there you can take a taxi to the central part of Cat Ba island.
