Ba Trai Dao Islets
Overview
Located about 22km to the south of Bai Chay Tourist Wharf, Ba Trai Dao (Three Peaches) is known as an ideal destination in Halong Bay for kayaking and swimming thanks to its wonderfully secluded and pristine beach.
Ba Trai Dao Island is located in Lan Ha Bay, which belongs to Halong City, Quang Ninh Province. The island is not very far from Cat Ba Island. Ba Trai Dao consists of three small islets which have the shapes of three peaches, for that reason, the island is named Ba Trai Dao or Three Peaches Island. According to the legend, once upon a time, there was a fairy who fell in love with a poor fisherman in Halong Bay. Once day, as the fairy wanted the fisherman to be immortal to be immortal like her, she stole three peaches from the Heaven and brought them for him. Unfortunately, the God noticed, got angry with her, and turned the peaches into three rocky islands in Halong Bay.
Nowadays, Ba Trai Dao Island is well-known not only for its legend but also for its alluring Ba Tra Dao Beach (Three Peaches Beach). Situated out of the tourist track of Halong Bay sites, Ba Trai Dao Beach has the shape of a bow embracing the island. The romantic seascapes along with the emerald and crystal-like waters will amuse any people. However, the beach is only available for swimming 2 – 3 hours a day due to the tide rises and engulfs the beach. In addition, except from kayaking and swimming, Ba Trai Dao Island is also ideal for rock climbing.
